Prior to 2002 the principals of the firm served as investment banker in over 100 transactions that raised in excess of $5 billion in capital for its clients, providing the firm with the insight and experience to understand deals from multiple perspectives.
Ironwood Capital leverages its industry experience and expertise, the varied backgrounds of its professionals and its extensive financial and operational relationships to maximize value throughout the life of its investments.
The firm seeks to invest in businesses which generate current cash flow and have the potential to achieve meaningful growth over a three to five year investment time frame. Leveraged buyouts, growth financings and recapitalizations comprise the bulk of the firm’s investments but it is open to other types of transactions that meet its basic investment criteria.
Investment Criteria
Ironwood Capital’s general investment criteria are as follows:
- Geographic preference is east of the Mississippi River but will selectively consider companies beyond this area
- Companies with annual revenues of $10 million to $200 million
- Proven management teams with a significant equity stake and a clear alignment of interests
- Demonstrated competitive advantages
- EBITDA margins of approximately 10% or better
- Particular interest in woman- and minority-owned businesses and businesses located in low- and moderate-income areas
